Sometimes it DID take a big hammer to get people to do things the proper way We finally solved that problem by simply destroying the plotted drawings after they were filmed and stamping the aperture cards with a big red notice that this was a CAD drawing and that the original had been destroyed. Now the drawing on disk/tape no longer matched the one in the drawer. Of course, that didn't address people going into the drawing vaults and taking the ink-on-mylar original plots, scrapping off the ink, making dimension changes, adding a hand written entry in to the revision block, sending it to the photolab to be re-photographed and having a new aperture card made. We finally ordered preprinted 'drawing sheets' on craft paper with the drawing border printed in red and with the word 'Preliminary' in large but light-red text displayed diagonally across the front of the sheet and that finally put a stop to people using review plots as 'drawings'. The problem was that those old CalComp plotters did such a good job that people would occasionally take one of them down to the blueprint room and run a white-print which would end-up in the shop somewhere where is was mistaken for a real drawing. When we first implemented CAD/CAM back in 1977 (this was in a former life), we would make review plots using ballpoint-on-vellum, instead of ink-on-mylar and we thought people wouldn't have to be told that they were not finished drawings. It is possible to make blueprints from bond paper, but they look awful. Pembroke Pines, FL, USA RE: Old Blueprints as Wall art? JohnRBaker (Mechanical) 27 Nov 13 21:53 The box was pretty heavy to lug into a show, but a lot lighter than an actual engine, and it seemed to draw people near, which was the whole point. I fitted acrylic tubing downstream of that, where there would normally be stainless or fiberglass, and looped that around to the back of the display where a marine muffler discharged the air and separated the water, which drained into a concealed sump for re-use. Inside the box, I installed a high pressure blower and a water pump, so the business end of the riser could be seen in action. I also had the print shop laminate the prints on both sides, which added a little snap to the display, made the images more durable and smudge-resistant, and I think made them easier to cut, fit, trim, and apply over 3M spray contact cement. The finished box looked pretty nice (I wish I had a photo), with the blue lines clearly suggesting an engine from tens of feet away, but not detracting from the shiny riser. Some of the fine lines on the original print blew up to 1/4", so the print shop called about that, and I said that's what I wanted. I had a carpenter make a roughly engine- shaped box, to which I glued full size blue on white prints of an actual engine, with the trade dress removed because I couldn't get permission from the engine mfgr. There are still a few places that do engineering prints (and posters and wall art and such), so if you can get the blueprints you want as PDFs (or other graphics file formats), you can have them plotted at any size you like (making a better fit in the room, with a little planning), within the limits of their plotter's roll feed.Ī while back, I was working on marine exhaust risers, which normally bolt to a Diesel engine, and we wanted a way to show off the product, nicely polished.

Diablo 1, then? That's a better shout.BlizzCon 2023: All the news from Blizzard’s opening ceremony Or, could this simply be a remaster of Diablo 2, the most adored game in the series? Given that Blizzard recently patched Diablo 2 to make it work properly with newer operating systems, I doubt it. And back in July, Blizzard was advertising for a game director of an unannounced Diablo project. It's now been four years since Diablo 3 launched, and two years since expansion Reaper of Souls. And this BlizzCon, which marks the 20th anniversary of Diablo (and also the 25th anniversary of Blizzard and the 10th anniversary of BlizzCon), would be the time and place to do it. Track back to 2008 and the reveal of Diablo 3: Blizzard announced the new game and then followed up with a press conference, showing it in more detail.īut there could certainly be time for a 'Diablo 4 is coming - more details later' announcement. And deep reveals tend to be Blizzard's style. That schedule doesn't leave much time for a deep reveal of a new Diablo game if indeed there is one. There's a 45-minute Diablo 20th anniversary panel at midnight UK time on Friday, 4th October followed by an hour-long Diablo art and design panel on Saturday, 5th October at 6.15pm UK time then a Diablo 3 dev talk and Q&A at 11pm UK time the same day. Looking more closely at the BlizzCon 2016 schedule, there are only three Diablo-themed sessions planned for the event. What were they doing there? Are they working on Diablo 4 and planning an announcement for BlizzCon 2016? Same place was! /sBMRZB2PS8- Bill Roper (He/Him) OctoTo see this content please enable targeting cookies. But in sidereal astrology, Libra runs 16th October to 17th November.ĭavid Brevik also recently (6th October) tweeted a picture taken at Blizzard HQ, as did Bill Roper, who was once vice president of Blizzard North and producer of the first two Diablo games. Astrologically speaking, the Libra zodiac sign is usually understood as governing the period 23rd September to 22nd October, which ends before BlizzCon begins (4th November). The tweet also showed a picture of the Libra constellation. I'm proud to be the adviser for the game that pushes this genre to new heights." His tweet, in case you can't see the embedded tweet above, said: "For 20 years, Diablo-like games have evolved & surprised us. And then yesterday he tweeted this:įor 20 years, Diablo-like games have evolved & surprised us. However as of January 2016 he became a free agent again. He co-founded Blizzard North and was one of a handful of people who birthed Diablo, and then helped direct Diablo 2. Strengthening speculation of a Diablo 4 BlizzCon 2016 reveal was a tweet by David Brevik, a man who was instrumental in creating the series. Did Blizzard deliberately misprint the die? And 4th November is when BlizzCon 2016 starts.Ĭurious, no? Even more so when you consider the shorthand for "four-sided die" is "D4", which would also be the shorthand for "Diablo 4". Or, if you're looking at a calendar, 4th November. Instead of displaying ones on the table-touching part of all three faces of the die, the Diablo die instead displays two ones and a four. The die is unusual because the numbers on one face are printed wrong, rendering it more or less unusable. The most elaborate sign concerns an unusual four-sided, Diablo-themed die, which is included in the BlizzCon 2016 Goody Bag - a limited edition $35 box of stuff that people with a virtual BlizzCon ticket can buy. ORIGINAL STORY 11.30 AM BST: Is Blizzard poised to announce Diablo 4 at BlizzCon in early November? There are signs that can be interpreted that way. Given that, what does his earlier tweet about being "the adviser for the game that pushes this genre to new heights" mean? Does it mean he's working on an entirely separate game in the genre?Īnd why were he and Bill Roper visiting Blizzard? To talk about appearing on the Diablo panel at BlizzCon? Or perhaps to record a special Diablo anniversary video? "There has been a lot of speculation (and hope), but I'm not working on the Diablo franchise currently or in the near future," he tweeted.
